5 Tips for Making your Store Remodel a Success

22nd June '18

Store remodels are a necessity for any retailer wishing to continually improve the shopping experience for customers. However, it almost goes without saying that store remodeling can be a bit of a headache when it comes to achieving a “business as usual” experience that doesn’t deter customers.

Enhancing your store’s shopping experience doesn’t need to present upheaval to business if it’s done in the right way, with the right supplier. With worldwide experience installing temporary refrigeration, Lowe have garnered the logistical expertise and keen understanding crucial to a smooth store remodel.

We consulted with Lowe’s operations team and gleaned a few tips on how to make your next store remodel a success –

  1. Check Fridge Sizes Match your Store Space

It may sound like common sense but when work schedules are packed, small details can fall to the wayside. Visually judging that a fridge will fit in your allocated space can oftentimes result in a nightmarish delivery day where there’s either a lack of space or a bit of space left over.

Save a great deal of bother by checking and double checking again the dimensions of your allocated space against the dimensions of the fridges you’re thinking of ordering.

  1. Check on the Sizes of the Doors

Once you’ve measured the dimensions of your allocated space against the dimensions of your selected equipment, you’ll then need to additionally check off these dimensions against the door sizes within your store to see if they pose an impediment to logistics.

By checking these details and alerting Lowe’s operations team, they will be made aware of whether delivery will be made to loading bay or to the front of the store.

  1. Confirm Timings Prior to Delivery and Collection

When you book it advance, it’s easy for things to slip your mind. However, the last thing you need is a delivery of equipment arriving when you aren’t prepared or staff arriving to collect the required equipment when you don’t have preparations in place.

Write the dates and times in your diary, notify the relevant staff who should also take note, start putting the necessary preparations in place asap and you’ll be well on track for an easy transition when it’s needed the most.

  1. Ensure Access Restrictions are Communicated Prior to Delivery/Collection

To ensure a smooth delivery and collection, any store access restrictions should be communicated in advance. Remember that equipment will arrive on a large lorry and this will need to get as close to the store as possible to facilitate a smooth delivery and collection.

Take note of any obstructions or restrictions to access and notify Lowe’s operations team to find a solution.

  1. Notify Lowe of any Changes to the Agreed Schedule ASAP

Lowe have a solution driven operations team armed with logistical expertise. They ensure deadlines are met, however, any changes to the agreed schedule should be communicated with them asap so that they can find a workable solution for you.
