We Are Lowe Stories: Day 2 of International Women's Day Countdown - Team Lowe USA

03rd March '20

Continuing our International Women's Day countdown, for Day 2 we hear more from Team Lowe USA! Meet Whitney Purinton, Financial Controller and Regina Muller, Senior Executive Assistant!

Where did you see yourself at 17 (what were your career plans)?

"At 17, I had no idea what I wanted to do in life!  An awesome professor in my undergraduate program told me I was going to major in Accounting…and the rest is history!"

What are your career highlights so far?

"The highlights of my career, so far, include completing my Master of Accountancy at Mercer University and earning my Certified Public Accountant license.  After spending nearly 15 years in public accounting, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to transition to industry accounting at Lowe."

Who is your inspiration?

"My Mom will always be my inspiration.  She was passionate about her career, encouraged me to pursue each of my career goals, and showed me what it means to have a strong work ethic."

Where did you see yourself at 17 (what were your career plans)?

"At 17, it was my senior year and I was graduating high school. At the time, I thought I wanted to pursue the medical field after my mom, but I learned quickly that wasn’t for me. It’s always important to be passionate about your career and love what you do as It becomes a big part of your life."

What are your career highlights so far?

"- Graduating college.

- I didn’t know at the time, but becoming a part of Lowe in 2009, would set my career path.  I was hired on as a sales coordinator to assist the sales manger and since then, I’ve had tremendous growth within the company. I was promoted to office manger in 2015 and then again in 2018 to Sr. Executive Assistant.

- I was nominated by my teammates and my  boss as most valuable employee and manager of the year. I am extremely grateful for the continued support from Richard and my colleagues. I couldn’t do it without them."

Who is your inspiration?

"I'd have to say my parents. They are both retired now, but they worked so incredibly hard to be successful and provide a wonderful life for my siblings and I.  My mom has a heart of gold and is the sweetest person you will ever meet. My dad is one of the most hard working men I know. He instilled in me at an early age to work hard and be successful. He always says “anything worth having doesn’t come easy.”"
